Terms of Service

These terms govern your use of Lumineus. By creating an account or using the service you agree to them.

1. The service

Lumineus is a curated, searchable library of public-domain esoteric texts with AI-generated, cited answers drawn from those texts. It is provided for personal study and research.

2. Your account

Provide accurate details, keep your password secure, and don't share your account. You are responsible for activity under your account. One account is for one person.

3. Acceptable use & fair usage

Use the service for your own private study only.
Do not scrape, bulk-download, systematically extract, resell or redistribute the library, its arrangement, or the answers.
Do not attempt to bypass rate limits or access controls, or use automated means beyond normal personal use ("fair usage").

3a. Fair use of Premium

Premium searches and answers are unlimited for normal personal study. That promise covers one person reading, asking and saving at their own pace. It does not cover:

automated or bulk use — scripts, bots, or queries sent in volume by any tool;
reselling access, or passing answers or passages on as part of a service;
sharing an account between several people;
any other use that places an unreasonable burden on the service.

If an account's use is far beyond personal study, we may temporarily slow or limit that account, and we will tell the account holder when we do.

4. Intellectual property

The underlying source texts are in the public domain. However, our curation, arrangement, metadata and the synthesised answers are protected — including under the EU sui generis database right — and remain our property. We grant you a personal, non-transferable licence to use them for private study. This does not permit commercial use, redistribution, or re-creation of the database.

4a. Pages you share

You can publish an answer as a shared page at a link anyone can open. You are responsible for what you publish this way — you must have the right to publish it, and it must not be unlawful, infringing, or someone else's private information published without their agreement. This applies to answers built from your own documents in Tabulia as much as to answers from our corpus.

We may remove any shared page, with or without a report and without notice, if we consider it unlawful, harmful, or in breach of these terms. Anyone can report a page using the link on the page itself; reports are read by a person and acted on. Removing a page deletes what it held from the live service — see the privacy policy, which also says how long routine backups keep a copy.

Shared pages expire on their own: 30 days for a free account, 60 days for a paid one, extended by reading only for answers from our corpus. We do not guarantee that a shared page stays reachable for any particular length of time.

5. AI-generated answers

Answers are generated by an AI model from the retrieved public-domain passages. They may contain errors or omissions and are not professional, medical, legal, financial or spiritual advice. Always check answers against the cited sources. Use them at your own discretion.

5a. Tabulia and the AI models it uses

Tabulia, our app for searching your own files, runs AI models on your device. By downloading or using those models you also agree to their terms:

EmbeddingGemma (Google), used for Meaning search. Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms. The copy we distribute has been converted and quantized; it has not been retrained. You must not use it, or let anyone else use it, for anything the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy forbids — among other things: content that infringes anyone's rights; illegal, dangerous or malicious activity, including child sexual abuse material, violent extremism, spam, fraud, phishing or malware; the unlicensed practice of a profession such as law, medicine or finance; harassment, discrimination or the unlawful tracking of people; and misleading others by presenting generated content as human-made. That policy forms part of these terms.
Phi-4-mini-instruct (Microsoft), used to write answers on your device, is licensed under the MIT License.

The full texts are included in the app under Settings → Help → Licences and notices, and are published beside the model files we distribute.

6. Subscriptions & billing

Free accounts include a daily search allowance. Premium is a paid subscription (€8,67 a month or €97 a year), billed through our payment provider acting as merchant of record. You can cancel at any time; access continues to the end of the paid period. We will give notice of any price change.

7. Availability & changes

We aim for a reliable service but provide it "as is" without guaranteed uptime. We may change, suspend or discontinue features, and may suspend accounts that breach these terms.

8. Liability

To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, or for reliance on AI-generated answers. Nothing here limits liability that cannot be limited by law.

9. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Denmark. If you use the service as a consumer, this does not take away the protection given to you by the mandatory rules of the country where you live.
