Tabulia — Terms of Use

Applies to: Tabulia Desktop (Windows) and the Tabulia app (Android). One set of terms for both.

By installing or using Tabulia you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, do not install or use it. Please read them together with the Tabulia Privacy Policy.

1. Who provides Tabulia

Tabulia is provided by Aeonloom, Copenhagen, Denmark ("we", "us"), which also operates Lumineus. Questions about these terms: https://lumineus.study/contact/.

2. What Tabulia is

Tabulia searches documents that are already on your device: it reads them, builds an index on your machine, and answers questions with passages taken from your own files. It can also search Lumineus's library of public-domain esoteric texts, and — when you ask it to — have an answer written online. It is provided for personal study, research and work with your own material.

Tabulia is not a backup service, a document management system of record, or a substitute for keeping your own copies of your files. The index it builds is derived from your documents and can always be rebuilt from them.

3. Your licence to use the app

We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable licence to install and use Tabulia on devices you control, for your own use. You may not resell, rent out or redistribute the app, present it as your own, or attempt to circumvent its licensing, limits or protections. You may reverse-engineer it only so far as the law expressly allows despite this clause.

We keep all rights in the app itself. You keep all rights in your own documents, your notes and anything you write — using Tabulia gives us no rights over them.

4. Your files are your responsibility

You must have the right to use the documents you index with Tabulia. You are responsible for what you index, for anything you send online through the features described in §6 and §8, and for keeping your own backups.

Reading and indexing happen on your device. Except where you use the online features described below, Tabulia does not upload your documents.

5. The free version and the full version

Tabulia's full version is unlocked by signing in to a Lumineus account with Premium (or a complimentary account). There is no purchase inside the app: a subscription is taken out on https://lumineus.study/upgrade/ and costs €8,67 a month or €97 a year, billed through our payment provider acting as merchant of record. The Lumineus terms and the payment provider's terms apply to that purchase.

  • Without an account, or signed in to a free account, the app runs in its free version. The free version has limits on how many files are indexed and on how much can be saved, filed and noted; the app shows the current limits where they apply.
  • When you sign out, the device returns to the free version immediately. Your material stays on the device; some of it may become read-only or partly hidden while the free limits apply.
  • Because the app is built to work offline, a confirmed subscription is honoured for up to 30 days without a connection, after which the device falls back to the free version until it can check again.
  • We may change what each version includes. Where a change materially reduces what you have paid for, we will say so in advance.

6. Online features

Some features need an internet connection and our servers. They are optional, and none of them runs by itself:

  • Searching the Lumineus library. Your question is sent to our server. Free and not-signed-in use has a daily allowance and rate limits.
  • An answer composed online. You choose this per answer, after the app has told you how many passages from your documents would be sent and where. The passages are not stored — see the Privacy Policy §4.2.
  • Sync of your collection and your filing across your own devices, for signed-in accounts.
  • Publishing a page — see §8.

Use these for your own study and work. Do not use automated means, bulk querying, scraping or scripts against them, do not resell or pass on access, and do not share an account between several people. If an account's use goes far beyond personal use, we may temporarily slow or limit it, and we will tell the account holder when we do.

We aim for a reliable service but provide the online features "as is", without guaranteed uptime, and may change, suspend or discontinue them.

7. AI-generated answers

Answers are written by an AI language model from passages that were retrieved for your question — on your device, or by our provider when you choose the online option. They may be incomplete or wrong, and they may misread a source.

Answers are not professional, medical, legal, financial or spiritual advice. Always check an answer against the passages it cites, which the app shows you. You use answers at your own discretion and responsibility.

8. Pages you publish

With the full version you can publish an answer built from your own files as a page at a link anyone holding it can open. The app shows you the whole page before anything is published.

  • You are responsible for what you publish this way. You must have the right to publish it, and it must not be unlawful, infringing, or someone else's private information published without their agreement.
  • We may remove any published page, with or without a report and without notice, if we consider it unlawful, harmful or in breach of these terms. Anyone can report a page using the link on the page itself; reports are read by a person and acted on.
  • Pages built from your own files are removed 60 days after they were created and are not extended by being read. We do not guarantee that a page stays reachable for any particular length of time, and you can end one at any time from your account pages.

9. The AI models that run on your device

Tabulia downloads and runs AI models on your device. By downloading or using them you also agree to their terms, which are reproduced in full in the app under Settings → Legal → Licences and notices and published beside the model files we distribute.

Gemma is provided under and subject to the Gemma Terms of Use found at ai.google.dev/gemma/terms.

The copy we distribute has been converted to another format and quantized; it has not been retrained. Those terms, and the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy, form part of these terms and you accept them as an enforceable part of this agreement.

You must not use Gemma or any model derived from it, and must not allow anyone else to use it, in violation of applicable laws and regulations, or for anything the Gemma Prohibited Use Policy forbids — among other things: performing or facilitating dangerous, illegal or malicious activity, including child sexual abuse material, violent extremism, weapons development, malware, spam, fraud or phishing; generating sexually explicit content; harassment, bullying, hate speech, discrimination, or the unlawful tracking, profiling or surveillance of people; the unauthorised or unlicensed practice of a profession such as law, medicine, finance or psychology; infringing anyone's rights; and misleading people, including by presenting generated content as human-written or as fact without disclosing its source.

Google claims no rights in what you generate with it, and you are responsible for that output. Google reserves the right to restrict uses of Gemma that it reasonably believes breach its terms.

9b. Phi-4-mini-instruct (Microsoft) — used to write answers on your device

Converted to another format and quantized; licensed under the MIT License, whose text is included with the app and beside the model file.

9c. Other components

Tabulia includes open-source software, each under its own licence. The full list and the full texts are in the app under Settings → Legal → Licences and notices.

10. Acceptable use of the app

Do not use Tabulia to process material you have no right to, to build or distribute an infringing collection, or in any way that breaks the law where you are. Do not attempt to bypass the limits of the free version, our rate limits or our access controls.

11. Updates

We may release new versions. Tabulia checks for a newer version only when you ask it to, and installing one is your choice; older versions may stop working with our servers over time.

12. Liability

Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be limited by law — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, and any mandatory liability under consumer law.

Subject to that: the app is provided as it is, we do not warrant that it is free of errors or that it will find everything relevant in your documents, and we are not liable for indirect or consequential loss, for lost data where you have not kept your own copies, or for decisions you take in reliance on an AI-generated answer.

13. Ending these terms

You may stop using Tabulia at any time by uninstalling it; see the Privacy Policy §3 for what that removes. We may suspend or end access to the online features of an account that breaches these terms or the Lumineus terms. The app itself continues to work offline in its free version.

14. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms. Material changes will be announced in the app or on lumineus.study, and the date at the top will change. Continuing to use Tabulia after a change means you accept the updated terms.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of Denmark. If you use Tabulia as a consumer, this does not take away the protection given to you by the mandatory rules of the country where you live, and you may bring proceedings there.
